Keeley Houghton became the first person in the UK to be sent to prison yesterday for cyber bullying. After constantly hounding her victim (Emily Moore) with threats on Facebook and Bebo a message was finally left claiming she was 'going to murder that bitch' which precipitated police action. In court a judge told Keeley her behavior 'was cowardly, evil and odious, the effects of which stayed with victims for life'. Keeley pleaded guilty to harassment and was sentenced to three months in a young offenders institution, she was also banned from having contact with Emily for five years. It really makes me wonder if some people have any common sense whatsoever. Leaving threats to kill is obviously a very serious thing to do. Making such threats available for the world to see on a website like Facebook shows just how far our society has come from reality. Unfortunately it is now far to easy for kids to become lost online where fact and fiction merge into one seething mass of text messages, pop, pickled onion monster munch and chat speak (often all at the same time).
